    INTRODUCTION

Development of a nation can be indicated from materials they use. More sophisticated material will increase a nation development. Because of that reason, research in advanced material is a necessity for university or
research institute. To accelerate the research in advanced material, it is necessary to build cooperation between university and research institute. The Advanced Material Research Group (AMRG) is collaboration between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), University of Indonesia (UI) and Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). The AMRG have objective to strengthen and enhance
research in advanced material field. The first meeting was conduct in Bangi, Selangor with Faculty of Engineering UKM as the organizer. The result of the
first meeting is research collaboration to develop advanced material in regional area. To more strengthening research collaboration in future, Indonesian Society for Nanotechnology will conducts AMRG, which will be held on 27-28th October 2008, in PUSPIPTEK Indonesia.
