The DAAD is inviting research groups from all over the world who are interested in hosting a German undergraduate to assist in their research in the summer of 2011 to submit their internship project online at www.daad.de/rise-programs.

Please feel free to forward the following information to the Humboldt fellows and other scientists in your network who might be interested in participating:

    The RISE programme

Following on from the success of the RISE intern program inviting US and UK undergraduates on internships to Germany, the DAAD now has a reciprocal program offering German undergraduates the opportunity of an internship abroad over the summer.

In this program, research groups, laboratories and doctoral students can apply to host a motivated and well-qualified student from Germany as a research intern to assist with a proposed project. Students participating in this program come from the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, or a closely related field, and will receive a DAAD scholarship to help cover living expenses and travel costs.

If you are interested then please go to www.daad.de/rise-weltweit. Here, you will find the database where you can enter your project offers. The deadline for entering your project is 26 November 2010. After that, the database is closed for the internship providers and the students can review the offers and apply for the projects.

Once the DAAD has approved your offer, it will be posted in the intern database on our website. This database is accessible to anyone who is interested in applying and has registered online.

Each student applying for an internship may apply for up to three projects, between 6 December 2010 and 16 January 2011. The prospective hosts are then asked to provide the DAAD with their quality assessment of the applications for their projects.

In case of any questions or concerns, please contact rise-worldwide@daad.de.
